Renovating and fixing up your home for spring doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg but whether you are fixing up your home to sell or just want a bright and fresh new look, there are several ways you can complete a few renovation projects without breaking the bank. Here are six easy spring renovation projects.
#1. Choose new accents.
Sometimes just changing the pillow colors on your couch can make a world of difference. Try swapping out a rug or a chair or two, a couple of accent pieces or just a few throw rugs and pillows. It can really give the area a fresh look.
#2. Give life to old tiles.
They make peel and stick tiles that can go right over your existing ones or you can even paint them and then cover them with a clear coat so they look like brand-new tiles. Bathroom and kitchen remodels are the most expensive renovations a homeowner can make so finding little cheat projects and cheap solutions are good way to add a fresh look to the house.
#3. Change out the hardware.
Hardware on doorknobs, lighting fixtures, front door handles and knobs and hardware on cabinets and pantries can all look a little dated after a while. Consider changing them out. Handles can cost anywhere from $.50 apiece to five dollars apiece depending on what you are going with and there are hundreds of options to choose from.
#4. Paint the room.
Paint is probably one of the cheapest ways to freshen up a room. Whether you are changing from dark to light or going with a bold accent color, a fresh coat of paint covers over all the scratches, scuffs, and nicks that walls can take on over the life of the house.
#5. Consider crown molding.
Redoing the molding around the baseboards of your room or adding crown molding can add an elegant and fresh look to every room. Take a look at what is modern now in open houses and model showroom's and then emulate that by finding inexpensive molding at big-box stores or lumber yards.
#6. Use plants.
Even if you are not a green thumb, adding some greenery to different rooms can really add a fresh and airy feel. They are making fake plants looks so real now that most people won't be able to tell the difference and you don't have to worry about the mess of dirt and water. Add some beautiful aluminum pots with greenery coming out in bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens.
